Khalil Doikat stabbed the late Rabbi Shai Ohayon three times when he was on his way back to his home.


The court today (Sunday) sentenced the terrorist, Khalil Doikhat, to life imprisonment and compensation in the amount of NIS 258,000, who murdered the late Rabbi Shai Ohayon at the Sgula junction in Petah Tikva about a year and a half ago.

Doykat was convicted based on his confession in an amended indictment filed by attorney Roy Rice of the Central District Attorney's Office (criminal), and described how he used his job as a construction worker at a construction site in Petah Tikva to take a knife that was lying in the site's kitchenette.

In the wake of the knife, he decided to carry out an attack, he said, "for the sake of Palestine, the Palestinian people, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Allah."

Following this, he set off on foot to the area of ​​Sgula Junction, where he spotted Rabbi Ohayon.

Doikat pulled out the knife and stabbed Ohayon three times, resulting in his death.

The court was presented with a plea agreement with the defendant, in which he admitted and was convicted in an amended indictment, in aggravated murder, for which there is a mandatory life sentence, while the prosecution demanded that Duikat pay the maximum possible compensation according to law.

Rabbi Shai Ohayon, a 39-year-old father of four, a Breslav follower who was on his way home.

He took a bus from the kollel in Kfar Saba.

Got off at Purple Junction and was on his way home.

So the terrorist attacked him and stabbed him several times.

He was rushed to Beilinson Hospital, however despite the doctors' efforts did not survive the serious injury.

His wife said after the attack: "I do not digest. I do not know how to tell children."

Ohayon left behind a wife and four children, ages 4, 9, 11 and 13.

Yosef David, a close friend of Ohayon, told "Israel Hayom" after the attack: "He studied at the kollel in Kfar Saba. We studied there together. I was with him when he got on the bus to the Sgula junction. He is married and has four children. He studied and was ordained a rabbi. He studied. And he also worked and supported his family with dignity. He had tickets to the artist and he waited to see if it was possible to fly there. He was righteous. He was an amazing man. Holy Blessed is he who took a holy man. You do not digest. "

It will be recalled that the terrorist, Duikat, was found fit to stand trial and responsible for his actions.

In doing so, the district psychiatrist dismissed the defense's claim regarding Doykat's mental incapacity.

Lawyer Haim Bleicher, who accompanies the Ohayon family on behalf of the Honno organization, said: "We help the terrorists and do not get sick of any claim. For them, a terrorist can be rescued from the prosecution by inventing mental states."
